advice on used car
Hi, I bought a used car on 29/06/12 from a fairly big dealership. Today, I nocied a pool of water in the rear passengers footwell (offside) and when I was driving and particularly when I accelerated I could hear a whoosh of water, sounded like to me that my sills on the car chassis? are full of water! So, I need to get this sorted.
I do have a 3 year warranty which I paid for when I bought the car. So, is my course of action to ring the insurance company who deal with my warranty OR ring the dealership, I am into the 7 month of driving it and done approx 10000 miles.
Thanks for your reply

I would firstly go to the dealership to identify the problem. Once they have told you what it is then you can try to claim from the insurance.
The insurance with a used car may just cover mechanical faults you should read the policy to see what is covered.0 -
Clean the rubber bungs out on the Bulkhead under the bonnet near the windscreen, take some finding but if they are bunged with leaves and muck, you get the customary pool of water.
It gets in the heater ducts.Be happy...;)0 -
What car is it?
For example all Renault Meganes suffer from leaky windows.0 -

Took it to a local garage.
He thinks he has sorted it but isnt 100% sure? So, if it helps anyone else.....
Rubber bungs underneath Scuttle/windscreen not bunged, clear.
All seals fine.
Took off the wheel arch liner and a rubber grommet wasnt pushed all the way in and he thinks this may have been it as the water from the windscreen goes down a pipe into the wheel arches and drains out. Pushed the grommet in with a blob of sealant. Hopefully that'll be it and it's sorted?!
Drilled 2 small holes in the floor of my car to help drain out water and he will seal them when the car is dry inside.
I did ring the dealership but they werent interested, no surprise there really and as was previously stated my 3 yr warranty only covers mechanical and electrical.
Thanks for all your help chaps
