HP G62 laptop

hi, the laptop i have been using for the last couple of years has just developed an 'internal battery fault' there seems some contradictory information as to whether this is the laptop battery (which i know is not holding a charge for as long as it used to) or is it the cmos battery?

if its the cmos battery how urgent is it to replace before the laptop completely stops works?

is it a diy job to change a cmos battery?

All that will happen with a flat CMOS battery is that when the main battery goes completely flat it will forget the date and time and Windows will alter it when you start the computer back up and it checks the time against an online time server.

That. A single CR2032 cell isn't big enough or important enough to be endowed with self-diagnostic capabilities.

the CMOS (or RTC battery, as HP call it) looks to be a doddle on the G62, it's under one of the rear covers next to the RAM and not hidden away...easy-peasy diy job :)
