EON Central Heating Cover T&Cs
I signed up for EON Central Heating Cover including Electrics, and plumbing.
I have had a few issues with the cover, and needed to claim a few times for the boiler.
Each time I have claimed EON have sent someone around whos sole purpose in life was to identify a reason the fault is not covered and inform me that there will be an additional fee. in fairness they have done a few jobs on my boiler that I never knew it needed.
Recently a flexible tail on a bathroom tap split. EON sent someone out who told me that flexible pipes are not covered; they are classed as part of the tap because the come with the taps.
I refuted the claim and checking the T&Cs Flexible hoses to domestic appliances are NOT covered. Plubming IS covered UP TO the tap. The flexible hoses can be seperated from the tap and therefore are not part of the tap itself. They are also purchased seperately from the taps because different lengths or sizes may be needed.
I am tired of the constant battle, and would like to cancel my contract. When EON told me the pipe was not covered, and a manager confirmed it, I informed them that it was not specified in their T&Cs and they were therefore breaking the contractual agreement between us. I am issuing them a letter informing of this and therefore terminating the contract with immediate effect.
Can anyone confirm or deny that I am within my rights? Anyone got any experience of doiing this?
Thanks.

At a guess if you have claimed this year you will have to pay the fees for the remainder of the contract.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

You sure about that? Even if it is THEM that broke the terms of the contract. I dont WANT to end the contract, but I DO want them to repair a leak which has occured in my plumbing which they have agreed to cover.
The problem is that they are claiming the "tails" are part of the tap and not part of the plumbing. I disagree, as flexible tails are plumbing pipe which is designed to be "flexible" in connecting a tap to the plumbing system.0 -
Hi jeffo489
I'm sorry you've been unhappy with the Central Heating services we've provided.
You can certainly cancel your contract. Each early termination is looked at individually to see if we've failed to provide the services agreed.
Subsequent charges, if any, will be based on this assessment.
Should you disagree with this assessment, we've a complaints procedure in place where the case can be escalated to senior management.
Sorry again you feel we've let you down.
