    Hi.

I know you are talking about coverlook but I got a call from exposurephotographics yesterday saying I'd won a photoshoot. Entered this competition on Pigsback. The woman on the phone went on about it for ages. Then said I needed to pay deposit. I knew I shouldn't've done it, but I did pay it for me and another guest. So know I guess have to just make sure I'll go and make most of the day out. Or can I cancel the deposit by calling my credit card and not let them take it out??? I mean will I get my deposit back when I go there as promised? I'm supposed to get one photo for free. I'm not buying other ones. I know I can play the game and not get sucked into buying the photos however good they look, but I do want my deposit back. Should've known not to do it, but sometimes you just want a treat. So could I cancel all this money going out of my credit card or do I have to go and brave it out and hope I get my deposit back??? Please advice.

tirlittan DON'T DO IT!! seriously everyone its a massive scam. All these companies are the same. I am fighting to get my £60.00 deposit back and I won't give up, even though it will take some work! Cover Girl don't answer the phone, don't return messages. They have phoned after 2 letters were sent via recorded delivery but are most unhelpful and can't end the call quick enough. I am giving them 1 more working day before issuing Court proceedings. It seems like a lot of work but I requested my refund in the 7 day cooling off period so legally should get it back. I also work in my local County Court so have legal help and all the forms and knowledge to do this at hand. Its the principle now, I just dont want them to get away with this all the time. The money isn't an issue anymore! I have also reported them to the trading standards who are there to help and am considering contacting Rogue Traders to see if they will do a feature on companies like this to raise awareness. Don't give up guys, I know I wont. I will keep you updated. Contact me if you want any more info and i'll retain a copy of the claim form I issue if anyone wants help in completing one.

I must add, I have no idea what the actual makeover day would be like, i just paid the deposit, found this site and thought better of it. It might be a great day as they say but... I doubt it.

tirlittan I think you will get your deposit back on the day, im not aware of people having not when they attend, these places just want you to spend a massive amount on pics that you get on a disk! its just like i said for me, principle now and it would cost a fair amount to get to the place and im not paying it!
  • Hey,

I recieved a phone call from Monic Newman saying i won a free makeover. I had entered a prize draw through the website she mentioned so I thought it was legitimate. The lady wanted me to pay £30 to guarentee my slot, which I would recover when I came back for the makeover.
I managed to track down the companies websites:
    http://coverlook-studios1.moonfruit.com
    http://covergirlstudio.moonfruit.com
Both of them supply the same information. The phone numbers supplied ring and ring, and end up going to BT answer phone. I have informed Trading Standards, who told me what to write in my letter of complaint to them.
They inform on their website that they do not offer cancellations - if they do not tell you is you are entilled by law to a full refund.

I have also spoken to their charted accounts and informed them, to check what company they were trading under - Coverlook Ltd (check companieshouse), I've informed them that I am prepared to take this to moneyclaim if I do not get my refund, which will effect their companies credit score even more.

I have also informed Watchdog about the company, and this website, so who knows, they might be on the bbc soon!

If none of you on here have demanded a refund... do so, it is your right. Good luck
  • I've 'won' this competition twice now :P
Got my second call just now.
All good until the 'refundable deposit' gets brought up ;)
  • well i just got contacted today saying the same as what every one else is saying and i paid as well but they said i was on the guest list to all the top clubs in london which is probaly a load of bull! im still gonna go and drink them dry of there wine with my friend i think as i paid 60 quid! but i will ask how they can refund me with out my card details again its alegal for them to keep card details isnt it so they would have to do it while u were there ?? has any one fort of that?? ive got rebook for next year as i live in devon which sucks to please get back to me x
  • THANKYOU everbody for the warnings about this company; I, also, have recently received a phonecall saying I'd 'won' a competition, and was skeptical initially, but there is NO WAY I'm going anywhere near it after reading all this, whoch popped up after typing 'coverlook' into google!
    Thanks again!!
  • i stupidly fell for this coverlook scam and although the photos were lovely i agreed to pay be direct debit, £40 a month for 12 months, when it came to cancelling my direct debit i couldnt get hold of the company and have now had to cancel my account and re-open a new one otherwise they would have continued to take money out of my account! Ive learnt a hard lesson but wil do anything in my power to make sure this company never ever do this again!x
  • Well, no wonder you chose to ignore my phone calls, my messages and my emails regarding this so called "won" a competition. Purely because I have not parted with any bank details, you have clearly decided to not bother with me now.
I have been reading up on your studio, and it would appear you are nothing but a big con, getting girls like me excited about something you really don’t care about and are only out to get peoples money, I think you aught to be ashamed of yourselves, stating "refundable deposit" but then not refunding it!!! WHICH PART OF A COMPETITION DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND. TO ME AND EVERYONE ELSE - A COMPETITION IS FREE !!!!! What a joke, I think perhaps you should read the below because this is exactly how people feel who have been conned into your money making scam.

Court proceedings?? Claim forms??? Trading standards, do you think ANYONE is going to fall for this after reading the above.
Seriously get a propper job and stop shattering peoples hopes and dreams.

    Hi,
I was called last night to be told I had won the makeover competition, unfortunately I was at work when I took the call and I couldn’t really talk, so I kindly asked the lady to send me an email about it, but have not received anything this morning. Please can you provide the details of which prize I have actually won and what dates this is for.
    Many Thanks
