Alzheimers - Paying for Care
Comments

There is no mention of a spouse.
Thanks.
Was getting confused because OP mentioned the father living there with the daughter but having reread the whole thread it is obviously the father who is going into care just not gone yet.
Anyway, back to the original question. If the daughter is receiving a disability allowance then the value of the property will not be counted.0 -
Mockturtle, a person with Alzeimers should not be assessed as needing residential care. He should be assessed as needing Nursing care. And not just Nursing, but Continuing health care, therefore the Nhs should pay for care, not himself. After all, Alzeimers is a disease, not a social problem. There is a very good thread here on Continuing health care. Its a very complicated issue and it will be very strongly contested by your local Nhs, but it is a fight that could be won. I won funding for my mum. Long fight (2 yrs), but very satisfying when all her money was refunded.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0
