in Credit cards
Hi,
I placed an order online on Christmas Eve for work related purchase.
Unknown to me the card was flagged with suspected fraudulent activity and the transaction was cancelled after I received the 'approved' page online.
The seller has sent me an invoice stating that it has been paid but now are saying that the order has been cancelled.
Because of the above the products we need to order are now doubled in price.
Can I claim compensation from the credit card company?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

claim compo from yourselfDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Who canceled the transaction - the supplier or the credit card company?
If it's the credit card company you can call them and ask them why they did this without contacting you first, however I wouldn't hold out much hope of compo. Contracts don't normally allow for consequential loss, and it would be a good will gesture if they did compensate you in any way.
If the supplier is claiming the suspected fraud, and the price has since doubled, I would be suspicious that they realised they had undersold the items to you and are using "suspected fraud" as a way of wriggling out of the transaction.Optimists see a glass half full

Did your CC issuer call or contact you to verify the purchase was genuine ? If they didn't then you might have a case. If they did but you didn't respond then you can't really blame them.0

Sounds to me like your payment was authorised, but the supplier didn't want to sell you the goods for the advertised price and has since made corrections to the price.0 -

The retailer wouldn't flag the transaction as possible fraud, that would be the card issuers fraud detection system. The retailer will have cancelled the order because the original payment was declined.0

You would to really kick up a stink to get anywhere. As it is in the T/C that. Your card provider has to run security checks.
I hope that the card provider is aware that you are not using hte card for personal purposes......
Because it it is for anything work related there is no S75 or chargeback cover.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

"anything work related?" S75 doesn't distinguish on that basis.
Presumably you mean if a company buys something and you put it on a personal credit card then you wouldn't be covered (cardholder isn't the customer), which I agree with.
If it was a reclaimable expense, then you would be covered. Eg in the case of a train ticket to a conference, the cardholder is the passenger and is the one who is in contract with the railway company. It is work related, but you're covered.
If you are self-employed, I don't see a problem whatever the transaction - because the business isn't a separate legal identity.0 -
S75 only covers personal use not business related purchases.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
