I think it probably is too late to plant garlic. I planted some about a month ago and they're doing nothing whereas the ones I did back in February are growing away great guns.
However if you have garlic and it's sprouting you may as well put it in as it won't keep til next year and see what happens

I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to put them outside permanently, but as others have said, put them out during the day to harden them off, then bring them in at night. If it looks like being a warm night you could leave them out all night. Tomatoes plants are pretty tough when it comes to repotting - they don't seem to mind at all. If your plants have got a bit too 'leggy' from being in the window, you can actually plant them deeper in the new pot, and they will send new roots out from the stem. Do you know what variety they are? - Some are hardier than others when it comes to planting outside. Once the risk of frost has passed they should be OK.

Thanks for this. one type is a moneymaker and thats doing great, the other type is gardeners pearl they are a bit 'leggy' though, maybe i should repot those deeper? Im leaving them out in the day now.

Oh, that's good, you've got one plant of each type! Gardeners pearl is a bush type which means you don't need to worry about pinching out the side shoots at all, in fact you shouldn't - that one would be good for a tub or even a hanging basket as long as you don't let it dry out. Moneymaker is a vine type so you do need to pinch out the sideshoots so you've just got one central stalk, you'll probably need to tie this one to a cane or something to support it as it grows, once you get it into its final pot. I would repot the plants a bit deeper if they look leggy; the extra roots they grow from the buried bit of the stem will make them stronger plants. Nice that you can experiment with both types!
