Financial Hardship Questions ???

Hi,
Im looking to reclaim around £2300 incl interest from HSBC, i have put all this down on a spreadsheet and even typed up a letter from one of martins excellent templates.
Now I'm in financial hardship as my outgoings exceed my income and i am regularly in the red every month (even after removing all expenses which werent essential), my question is that to apply under the hardship rule is it simply sending a letter saying I'm in hardship enough or do i need to send any other documents to support this?
Im claiming back as far as 2006 and horrified by the charges when i reflect back, now would i have needed to be in financial hardship when these charges were made (so last 6 years im claiming for) or do they look into my current situation?
Appreciate any help on this...thanks

Financial hardship claims are based on your current situation. You may get back recent fees, check your statements to see if there is anything on there which isn't essential. They'll knock your claim back if there is. Things like Sky, gym memberships, eating out etc.0

That's not necessarily financial hardship, it could simply be called over spending.
See the sticky about financial hardship online resources for a better understanding of what is meant by financial hardship in relation to reclaiming bank charges.
You need to be in financial hardship at the time of claiming, and if the bank agrees, it will usually only refund about 6 months most recent charges (and perhaps waive them for a few months to allow you to get back on your feet).
Banks are not obligated to refund any charges, even if you do prove to them you are in financial hardship.0 -
I wouldnt think you would be able to claim 'interest' either.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Hi,
My outgoings are all my bare essentials such debt, rent, petrol for work, bills and food and the total of these supercede my income and i regularly go into red and charged because of it and it has had a snowball effect where i would get charged when i try to clear my arrears and therefore puts me back into the red.
I have a little one on the way and am going to struggle to see how i would be able to finance them, any money helps so il give it a go.0 -
You had Sky up until November - that is not a bare essential.
Post your SoA on the Debt Free Wannabe Board and you'll get lots be good advice on how to reduce your debts there
(Details of how to do this on a sticky thread on that board)0 -

You've got no chance with a hardship claim with a sky+hd package.0 -

Also i am looking to still retain SKY+ HD so that i can still record but been told need to pay £10.25 to still retain this and locked down to a 12 months contract for this peice only.
Just want to know the full list of channels i could be getting to see if its still worthwhile retaining SKY+HD only.QUOTE
No secrets on here:o
Your hardship case has to be exceptional to be even considered

Yes, letters with supporting evidence are needed but I think, from what you have said, that you have to pass 'go' first as all spending habits are scrutinised and previous and perhaps? current unecessary spends will be held against you.
Car share, switch energy provider to get a cheaper deal, buy s'market basic brand foods etc (I shop at Aldi - good value and v.good savings!) cut out magazines and papers etc, etc. There's loads of ways to eke things out. lots of money saving & challenge threads on this forum too.
Good luck
