Good Value Solicitors in Kent V Internet

We've accepted an offer on our house in Maidstone but have been told we are 8th in a chain. We are thinking of just selling and going into rented so that the chain is complete.
We haven't dealt with solicitors for over 10 yrs and have had 2 quotes from firms via the estate agents. Both similar at around £1100 and asking for £125 up front.
Just wondered if anyone has used cheaper, efficient firms in my area or should we go for one of the internet based companies?
Any help much appreciated
Cheers

Shop around for solicitors as they can vary greatly in costs. Last time I moved there was a diffence of almost £300 between the highest & lowest quote I had.
Asking around amongst neighbours & friends is always a good idea to see if anybody can give a recommendation.
I used a firm in Bexleyheath called Cunningtons. Their charges were very reasonable & because the office was open till 7 weekdays & untill 12oc on Saturdays I considered this a bonus.
Personally the idea of an internet firm doesn't interest me as I'm more comfortable knowing I can contact people by phone when I need to speak to them, or even call in at the office should there ever be cause. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
:A Thanks Cattie. Have begun ring around and get a few quotes.
Anyone else used a good Maidstone firm recently???
Also took advice from this site and bargained with 3 local estate agents over charges. One didn't want to know, the second spent ages trying to talk me into another face to face meeting (I suspect to try and brow beat me into acceptiing their terms) and the 3rd accepted my terms with only a slight change. Luckily we've had an offer after 4 weeks with them. Only hope it all works as we are at the top of a chain with 7 below us

I know of a Beaconsfield based one that works from home (with an asssistant & a locum) and will conveyance for any English property. She has done London flats as well as my own sales & purchases, for example. PM me if you need the details I think she is fair priced and thorough.0
