How do I take advantage of 0% balance transfers?

Ok, just made a couple of large purchases and I would nomally pay them off my credit card at the end of the month, for me its in 6 days. So I thought I would be clever this time, change cards! However, I find most cards take up to 2 weeks to activate your account? How do you make the change, they even charge 2% to transfer balances? I can never remember reading about this transfer charge. !!!!!!.

Not every card charges a fee - read the articles on the main site and the many posts on the forums about BT fees. Also if you want your spending to be 0% look at the 0% purchases cards (eg Sainsburys) - again see the articles on the main site. However 6 days is certainly not long enough to get a new card. Even if you want to transfer next month's balance you need to get your skates on!
