Can I use the same AC/USB adaptor to charge 2 different gizmos that use micro USB?

Options
I have a mobile phone and a tablet that both have micro USB power cables but each came with their own USB/AC adaptors (the bit that plugs into the AC power socket).

It's a bit of a pain to keep switching the adaptor out for each one so it would be much easier to just use the same adaptor/cable for both of them.

If I look at each adaptor, the phone output is rated 5V/1A and the tablet one is rated 5V/2A.

Will it cause problems if I used either one to charge both, and is it better to use the lower rated one to avoid damage - or will a higher/lower amp output damage the equipment?

If you must use the higher rated one. If you use the lower rated one you risk overloading and over heating it which could be a fire risk.
Neither will damage what is being charged.

A bit like this one a phone charger that had been used to charge a tablet
