Ouch: wrist ache !

Does anyone else get wrist and arm ache from comping ?
If I use my laptop without the mouse it's quite painful after a while. Now my arm is aching when I use the mouse too.
Does anyone have any tips?
I'm going to end up with RSI at this rate :rotfl:
Girls do it better....

Don't use a laptop for extended use unless it has a detachable screen as you almost certainly cannot get the correct height/distance for the keyboad and screen at the same time.
I am using a laptop at the moment but it is connected to a full size keyboard, mouse and screen so no different to using my desktop (which recently died).

You need to stop, full stop.

You wont get RSI, it seems to me you already have it.

Buy a wrist splint, give your wrist a rest. I have this and it does affect you for the rest of your life, hard to believe but it does, unless you do something about it no.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I have tendonitis (a form of RSE) in my wrist & was advised to rest it but it now seems that that is no longer considered good advice as it make your muscles waste (I can't take lids of jars anymore) I suggest you take regular tea breaks - if its in your mouse hand as opposed to typing try getting a flatter one - or try a mouse ball thingy

My hand and wrist used to ache really badly when I sat at a table with my laptop and mouse. But since I have started to sit on my settee with my laptop on one of those tray cushions on my lap and my mouse mat and mouse on the arm of the settee, I no longer get any pain! Maybe it is because the arm on the chair is slightly higher than the laptop - I'm really not sure - but all I can say is - it has worked for me! I've been doing this for three weeks now and NO PAIN!

Whilst on the subject of ailments caused by comping - anyone else get captcha rage???? I can honestly say I never usually swear, but sometimes when I see captchas that are either massively long, completely unreadable or impossible to copy, I start shouting at my laptop screen - WHAT THE F***!!!!!!!! (My kids are usually at school so they don't hear) OMG, I often think I must be going loopy for shouting at my laptop!

Forgot to say (was completely distracted by BlueBella's comment :D) that I've also started getting a pain in my elbow. Not just from comping, but I use the computer so much for other things too. Yesterday I tried doing all the comps with my left hand. I think I'll have to try and find a more permanent solution - like perhaps try BB's laptray thingy - thanks Blue Girl XXX

I've just ordered a pen mouse to see if it helps. I like the idea of the hand position, and hope it will reduce my "clicker's finger"

But I'm inclined to think that if they were that good a greater range woud be available.
I'll let you know how it goes
