Runner-up prizes

Just wondering, do the runner-up prizes ever put you off entering a competition?
There was a competition to win a Blu-ray Player which I would love to win but then the runner up prizes were blu-rays. That kind of put me off because it would be pointless winning those since I have no use for them. I don't know if this is making sense, but just wondering if anyone else thinks the same way?

It has done with me before, but now I just figure it's better to be in the draw for both the main prize and the runners up prize than not be in the draw for either. After all, you cant win the prize you want if you don't enter0

You could always either refuse the runner up prize, sell it on or give it to the charity shop.
I've had the other side of it a few times - desperately wanted the runner up prize but praying not to win the main one.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

This is true. I've been trying to think of it that way too.You could always either refuse the runner up prize, sell it on or give it to the charity shop.

it's like the one that comes up fairly regularly to win a ps3 & the runners up prize is £60 to spend in the ps3 store - if you already have a ps3 you wouldn't be entering would you?proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

If you win and want it, keep it.
If you win and don't want it, sell it.Golly, I've got the newt pregnant...

I don't think I would ever not enter a comp with a prize that I wanted to win just in case I won a different prize that I didn't want. I would have no qualms in selling on an unwanted prize, done that many times. It's like winning twice. But if you really wouldn't want to do that then you could ask them to redraw the prize, or give it to a charity shopI am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology
THIS IS ME!
When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.0 -
I guess I should stop being so fussy with my comping regarding runner up prizes then haha. Maybe that should be one of my comping NY resolutions.0

I usually only enter if i want the prize, if i get a runners up prize that i am unable to use there is always family, friends or a charity to give it to.If I cared what everyone else thought, I'd be just like everyone else, and there's already too many of them. :A0
