As gum disease is controlled by the patient not "cured" by dentist/hygienist perhaps the most important part of treatment is showing you how to clean effectively to stop plaque/tartar building up again as if you clean effectively you won't have to see the hygienist.
I agree - to an extent. I spose to some extent anyone who is being sent to a hygienist PROBABLY hasn't looked after their teeth. That being said, pretty much everything she told me had already been told by my dentist already and is basic stuff people should know and/or could easily be explained on a leaflet/online.
I don't want to pay £125 an hour for advice. I want to pay £125 for a thorough clean.
As I said the clean was probably better than my normal dentists but the question is how much is it actually worth.
I think there are huge variations in how dentists operate so there is no blank answer.
At my dental surgery they don;t have hygienist - the only clean you get is the basic one the dentist does.
Whereas at the periodontist I went to it looks like all the dentists refer you to the in house hygienist if you want a clean0 -
Friend tells me moonz opening new place and offering free consultation - normally £150 an hour!
