messenger (or skype) help on new tablet

Got a new Samsung Note 10.1 for the house. As i am away with work often i like to use messenger to video call home.
The windows site would not give any messenger download for the tablet stating skpye is to replace messenger soon.
So downloaded Skype and can login with hotmail details. But i cant connect from the Skype account to family on a different laptop using messenger for video calling
DAK how we can connect between the tablet and laptop?
Is there a messenger software we can use on the samsung tablet?

we tried that and no luck.....we can get skype to messenger to work by typing messages only but no video calling.
