Loading in resident permit holder

Hi and happy new year all,
On Saturday I got my first parking ticket, and it was the most horrible feeling ever!
I would like your help on how best to approach challenging the fine please.
There is currently work being done in my house because of a recent water leak incident, in London borough of Barnet, and it is uninhabitable. I've told the council so they don't charge me council tax.
There is only resident permit holder bays in front of/near the house and yellow lines everywhere else.
I had to go collect some tools from the house on Saturday and unfortunately parked in these bays.
After 2 minutes (or even less) I came out and saw the warden who had driven there in his white mini-van was giving me a ticket.
I explained that I was only in the house for 2 minutes and was loading but he wouldn't have any of it and just wrote the ticket right then and there in front of me!
Now I wish I had taken the car and driven away because then he wouldn't have any photographic evidence to back up his ticket, but not even sure if this would've worked.
Do you think there is any ground to challenge the fine?
How can I approach this?
Thanks in advance!

Should have parked on the yellow lines because you CAN load/unload on single or double yellows (as long as there was not a loading restriction & yellow kerb blips too).
Or you should have driven away, you don't have to wait for a ticket and many Councils cannot get the process right for issuing one by post after the event. ALWAYS drive away if you can!
I am not sure if loading/unloading would be an exemption in a bay...
But you need to go to pepipoo for advice, read the FAQs too and don't post without pics of both sides of the PCN and a pic of the sign at the bay:

FAQs is the first sticky, tells you how to post pictures, among other info:

ok experience for next time.
Thanks Coupon-mad
I'm want to try and send them an informal challenge over email first and see what they say.
But I'll post on those forums first and see what advice I can get before sending the email.
I got 11 more days before the fine doubles, so got to act fast!!!0 -
11 days or 10?
You may not have made this rookie mistake, but beware of counting ON by 14 days. It's not - if you read the PCN wording carefully, it's counting on by 13 days because the 'PCN day' is Day One.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
