Hi everyone,
It has taken me a long time to summon the courage to post my question on here, so here goes. First off I will say I am ashamed of my choices in the past and have learnt from my mistakes and want to be the best I can for myself and my family.
I am classed as a ' would be mature ' student, when I was 18 I started university to do a law degree twice and dropped out - twice. No -one to blame but myself, I was a fool and had no belief in myself.
I did take out student loans and the balance remains as I have never earnt enough to pay back. In the intervening years I have had various jobs and now I am in my 30's I want to aspire for more.
I would like to complete an Access Course with a view to studying Radiography further down the line. This is something I have tried to save and plan for for the past few years.
My question is because of my past student loans would I be able to claim if I needed to ?
Also, to add more difficulties both myself and my husband were declared bankrupt in 2009.
Is it time to give it up and admit that I screwed up and now cant change my future or can I give it a go ?
Any advice would be gratefully recieved.

if you didn't have a degree awarded you would be entitled to 3 years + 1...
So my understanding is...
You may have had 2 years full funding (assuming when you dropped out each time you were on the first year)...
Meaning you would be entitled to 2 years funding - but they would be the last two of the degree....
Stashbuster - 2014 98/100 - 2015 175/200 - 2016 501 / 500 2017 - 200 / 500 2018 3 / 500

Nimbo is along the right lines.
Normally that would apply, but Radiography is an NHS funded course. As such, you'd get the maintenance loan from SFE and a means tested bursary from the NHS regardless. Previous study wouldn't come into it with SFE, but I'm not sure about the NHS. My impression though is that they don't take it into account.0 -
As radiography is nhs funded it doesn't matter what finance you have had in the past
Ok, the nhs bursary is less than the maintenance loan available to non nhs students (through student finance), but your tuition fee is paid, so long term you are better off, it's just the trying to exist as a student that is hard (especially where placements are concerned)
Although nhs are currently reviewing bursaries and the entitlement criteria are getting tighter and money reduced, so what is available now, might not be the same as when you are looking to start
I am currently first year radiography student and money aside, am loving it
Forgot. You can apply for a half rate maintenance loan through student finance, but in your case you wouldn't be eligible for the full 3yrs, due to your previous study0 -
Not true on it, it would be reduced rate for the full duration of study, even if repeats were involved.0
