Firstly, what shoes and socks are you wearing? If you're wearing plastic/synthetic type shoes, it will promote sweat and bacteria growth (which is what smells!). Switch to a croc style shoe, a flipflop, or leather shoe. If you wear socks make them 100% cotton.

Assuming you don't have any obvious foot problems like athlete's foot etc, make sure you keep your toenails short and squared off, and dug out (again any bits under toenails will smell).

I follow the above and have never needed to use a foot deodorant/rub, I make sure to use a foot file on any hard skin once a month and use a natural moisturiser every now and again. HTH :)

You can use pitrok under arm deoderant on your feet and in shoes which kills the bacteria that smells rather than trying to cover the smell up.

Of course keep your feet really clean, if you have washable shoes bung them in the washing machine as well and if you wear socks wear cotton.

You are not the first and will not be the last with this problem, so I have merged your thread with a couple of older ones which may help your quest for sweet feet!

A few other suggestions for people who need assistance with this condition .

Odaban can be bought online http://www.odaban.com/UseageGuide.asp

Perspirex hand and foot lotion (there's an underarm one too) http://www.mosquit-ex.co.uk/perspirex/index.html can be bought at a chemist shop. Boots can order it if they don't have stock.

The Odaban website is very informative and gives advice on a range of alternatives such as iontophoresis, a treatment you can arrange to have at home. The machine can be bought from http://www.stdpharm.co.uk/default.asp?page=machines
If tap water use isn't effective, your GP can prescribe a solution, glycopyrrolate, to use with the machine.

If the problem is affecting your quality of life, there really are things you can do. HTH

"I think that most really bad smelly feet come fom a variety of sources. In days gone by, I have given Mr TM a pedicure ie 20 mins in a foot bath followed by exfoliation, manicure etc"

Please tell me you are joking. Ohhhh no, you don't really pedicure your partner's feet. Unless he's not capable for whatever reason that is.

As for the poster who says bicarb becomes a sloppy mess in their shoes.
Pleeeease, put the bicarb in the shoes at night, shake it out before wearing next day.
Maybe I left my sense of humour in my 5 hrs waiting in A&E today. Didn't even laugh at Harry Hill, so really all is lost.
