Hot water pressure

Hello,
I have a conventional vented heating system in my house (water tank in the attic) and the boiler is currently in the 1st mezzanine bathroom, along with the water pump and hot water tank.
I want to add another bathroom on the 1st floor which is about 1m higher than the 1st floor mezzanine. I was wondering whether I could get hot water to the shower and sink given that the hot water tank would effectively be below the level of the "to be" shower.
Does it have any impact? or is the water pressured by the cold water tank, which is well above where the new bathroom would be? In which case, the hot water would still be able to make it to the new shower head.
Thank you

The head (pressure) of the hot water is determind by the height of the cold water tank. The base of the CWS tank should be min of 1mtr above the head/outlet of the shower. Is there room to lift the CWS tank in the attic?0

Plumb1 - you just made my day, thanks !
The house has 2 floors, so the CWS tank (located in the attic) is at least 3m above the shower head and 4/5ish meters above the HW tank.
Reading your post, it should then be OK.

Yep you will be ok with that head of 3mtr. Also my advice is to buy a good quality shower along the lines of Mira, Aqualisa.
Have a good new year, and if you need any help the people on this site will help.0 -
Plumb1 has answered your question but I would add that you could perhaps consider installing a pump for the shower.
3 metres is a decent head and will give a reasonable shower provided the pipework isn't too long or too narrow gauge but, if you like a power shower, a pump is needed.
In our previous house we had a gravity shower with about 3 metres head for many years. It was fine but, when we refitted the bathroom we installed a shower pump and the improvement was considerable. Our current house is direct mains pressure with stored hot water so we have a reasonably powerful shower now without needing a pump.
Power showers do use far more hot (and cold) water so they cost more to run.
But, having got used to power showers, I would not much like to go back to a gravity shower.
Someone more knowledgeable than I am may be able to advise on how 3 metres head compares to the various heads achieved with pumps.0 -
Thanks for your answers. This is only a temporary solution as we were planning to change the boiler next year, and put a new HW cylinder on the 2nd floor landing (getting rid of the old system set-up on the 1floor mezz bathroom)Total Debt (inc. mortgage)31/12/2012 - £893k31/12/2022 - £1.703m0
