MBNA Claim - no details

I recently applied to reclaim PPI with Tesco bank and MBNA. In both cases I had no info other than what I could get from credit expert.

Both replied asking for more info as they were unable to trace me which I provided. Tesco bank replied quickly and have now agreed I was mis-sold and have offered me just over 2k.:rotfl:

MBNA have replied again saying they are still unable to trace me and this is their final letter. I would have accepted this but in the first letter they said they couldn't trace me, they quoted the last 4 digits of my account number?? I responded to this telling them they had quoted it and provided more details i.e dates, previous addresses etc. In the final letter the account number has changed and ends 0000.

Are they trying to put me off taking this further or can they not trace me and will the ombudsman be able to help???

All I did was give MBNA credit card customer services a ring went through the security questions and they found my account details for two credit card dating between 1995 and 1999. I asked them for the account numbers which they gave me and they also registered my PPI complaint as part of the same call

Thanks for response. I rang them today and they found my account straight away when I quoted ref on letter. Apparently they have closed down original claim and started a new one, letter on its way to me. We shall see what happens....
