Any suggestions, I want to start buying them in bulk instead of the little bags from supermarkets but also would like wholemeal instead of brown?

I have seen huge bags of white basmati rice in Lidl, about £7.99. I have only seen white though.
Have you been to cash and carry type places, or wholesale sellers?0 -
Could try Asian supermarkets0

Morissons does a 2kg bag of brown Basmati for about £3.50, it's in the "ethnic" section, and they've had it on special offer before - down to £2.75 I think it was. Brown Basmati is gorgeous, I don't buy any other type of rice. They have bigger sacks of rice in the same section but they are all white.0

https://www.spicesofindia.co.uk has 10kg bags of basmati for 19.95 and 10kg bags of Tilda broken basmati rice for 8.95
I haven't bought rice from them but have bought other stuff and customer service was excellent and fast delivery.0 -
my mum gets hers from local health food wholesalers: do you have one near you? hers is called daily bread, we have one in Sheffield called lembas. in general most medium-large cities would have one. good luck0

Asian shops for rice; large Turkish grocers for pasta.
It's always worth keeping an eye out for offers on Approved Foods, but tbh I think the days of dirt-cheap staples are long over.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

IMO De Cecco is the best dried pasta it's possible to buy. I've seen it in Budgens on offer.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

its £1 a bag in asda at the mo - got 3 today and will get another few. They only had fusilli though and I am a bit fussy about matching pasta to sauce.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
