All those loaves sound lovely DFW  I am definitely going to aim to do more this year! DH loves bread, so he'll be very appreciative too no doubt :)

Well, nearly the first day of the year over already! It's been a NSD today; all we've done is laze around and then drove home this evening. Had shepherds pie for tea followed by cheese and biscuits as we've got a lot of cheese in the fridge :o

Tomorrow I'll have a proper look at the accounts, once all the DDs have gone out; they normally go out on the 1st so hopefully they'll all be gone tomorrow so I know where I stand. Is it sad that I'm looking forward to doing that? :o

    Hi SF

I've just caught up with your diary (think I've posted before but can't be certain!) and just wanted to say well done for what you have achieved so far! We have similar family/savings goals for this year which is exciting! I would love to start a MFW diary on here but we are saving up to gut and extend our house so really not sure whether to OP or not?

I think it must be quite common to get frustrated or annoyed about money especially if you spend a lot of time thinking about the future. It always seems so far away! I'm going to try to focus on the present this year, count my blessings and try to switch off from work-stress as I found the last term quite hard!

    Happy new year!

:hello: janey, and thanks for stopping by! As far as your OPs go, I think I'd be tempted to save for the extension/renovations first, and then you can OP much faster!

And I know totally what you mean about trying to live in the present - I'm so excited about things this year, that I want it now! :D:o but yes, staying in the present should be a goal of mine too :o

And happy new year to you too!

So, I've tried to be productive today! I have
    - taken the christmas tree and decorations down
    - shredded a massive pile of stuff that's been there for ages :o
    - made a doctors appointment
    - emptied dishwasher, then refilled it
    - hoovered all downstairs
    - cleaned the kitchen
    - looked at budgets and planned spends for the month
    - had cat cuddles :D

As lots of our DDs go out on the first of the month, they've all gone out today, which means I can budget for the month :) it'll be quite tight I think, but we can manage :D

We've got our daily interest on the mortgage down to £10.21 a day, which is good going :) still in double figures though! I hope by the end of 2014 it'll be under the magic £10 a day mark.

Tonight we're having jacket potatoes with sausages and beans, a nice straightforward tea :) I'm going to weigh myself in the morning () for the OS weight loss challenge I've signed up for. I have a feeling (no, I know deep down) that I've probably gained quite a bit over the holidays, possibly due to all the cheese I have eaten :o I need to start thinking about what I'm putting into my body, if I ever want to reach my weight goal :)

In other news, I can't believe the holidays are almost over! I'm sure it's only been, like 2 days? Right? :o :A

I can't bring myself to de-christmas, living room looks so lovely and always looks so bare when everything is packed away.

I've got a couple more aims to add to the ones already posted.

    1) I need to be more kind to myself. I'm really harsh and critical to myself almost on a daily basis :o It's not helping my mental state at all, and I don't deserve it. I would never speak to anyone else how I speak to myself :o

    2) I need to stop worrying/stressing about things that are out of my control. Things that are in my control is fine, as that's something I can change. But, the things that are out of my control, which worry me a lot sometimes, need to be something I try worry less about. It doesn't do me any good, and it can make me very stressed at times, when there's really no need!

I'm doing my best, I just need to realise that that's enough.

    :o:o:o

Right, I've made my first OP of the year :D£50 straight off :) I need to remember that our aims for this have changed, and to not OP by too much :o

Again, not doing much today. I'm going to hoover and clean upstairs this afternoon, once I've had my lunch. I've been a good MSE person on that front; we had jacket potatoes last night with tea, and I did an extra one so I could have it for lunch today :D

Not much else to say :o

Well done on the first OP of the year.

I don't actually plan to make any until they confirm our advance for the remortgage (I suppose the real world will start again next week).

I'm hoping our Remortgage Pot won't be needed for fees (assuming we get the product we want), leading to a psychologically rewarding instant OP on the new mortgage :)

Baked potato sounds great, I managed a couple of poached eggs and some ham for breakfast and have since given up!
