You can earn over £8000 before liable for tax....http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/it.htm

Yes, I knew that, but the woman on the phone definitely said a figure of about £5500 or something, so I wasn't sure if that was in relation to self-employed earnings.
Try the newly self employed helpline.

8.00 am to 8.00 pm, Monday to Friday
8.00 am to 4.00 pm Saturday
    Closed Sundays and bank holidays
    0845 915 4515

    That's the one I used.

This is why I would rather have gone to Citizen's Advice, so I could have sat down with someone and explained everything and gotten specific advice. Instead I called someone, being completely clueless about what I needed to say, and talking to someone who didn't seem to realise (or care) that I didn't know what I was talking about.

But it is done now anyway. Will just have to wait and find out where I need to go from here.

But thanks everyone for the help. :)

Same and it seems to be the longer ones that are having issues. Refreshing multiple times AND HAVING TO RE DO THEM EACH TIME just to have them submitted is silly.

Was about to say the same Happi, have managed 3/5 attempted profiles and still need to find an actual survey that accepts me and works enough to complete and credit!

Back from migraine land and been online for a couple of hours filling in the profiles. Got a couple of them that said an error had occurred and that I needed to refresh but nothing happened. Then I realised you have to give an answer to every part (eg one said something like if you have answered yes to having a baby less than 36 months - I hadn't answered yes but still had to click on the dropdown box and enter something - Really good programming, Swagbucks!!)

I've completed all of the profiles but now I feel like I am owned by Swagbucks (well everything apart from my gonads - I didn't find a question about those, although there was one about erectile dysfunction, or something, but let's not even go there).

The good thing about the profiles is it looks like we will be able to change them if out circumstances change

Surveys are an utter nightmare today - got DQd from 3, then I got the what is 3+4 question. Well when I was at school it was 7, but obviously whoever wrote the survey is mathematically challenged. Then got the crisp survey. Question - would you buy these crisps if available - answer yes definitely (cos they did look yummy). Wrong!!!! DQd. OK, if they don't want me to buy them then I won't - I'll stick with Pringles

Good! i wonder if you can undo them too, i only done the least personal ones like hobbies and what not but they are quite blatantly put together by yanks.

I did the smoking one and there was hardly any brands i recognised so declined to answer lol :D

    What a waste of time!

I think you can undo them, happi. If you go back into them and click on the questions, all the answers come up with the tick boxes and it does look as if you can untick/update etc.

I agree some of the questions do seem to be very US orientated (or is it oriented?) It remains to be seen how many surveys we get from this in the UK
