The 'extra payment every week' challenge 2013

Options
Lets get ready to ruuuuuumble! :j Happy 2013

Hi guys, firstly I want to say thanks so much to inamin for starting this thread last year, it helped a fair few of us keep on track so we've decided to go for it again.

Inamin's instructions from the first thread are;

SO the idea of this is that we all make a decision to make ONE additional payment every week towards one of your debts. It doesn't have to be the same debt every week (although that may be a good idea if you have one that is more expensive than the others) and it can be for as much or as little as you like.

However, as a few people (me included) will be changing the focus from a debt to a goal then that's allowed too :T

There is really only one rule and that is that the payment must be above and beyond your usual minimum or planned payments (so no taking it off your minimum and then paying less on the due date!!!! )

If you wanna state your goal/debt in your first post then please do so, we like a bit of waffle :rotfl:

A signature line that states your amount that week, then cleared and added to your total at the end of the week so we can all see where we're at when we post is a good idea

I think that's everything

Good luck guys.....

.....and we're off!

  • Thank you for the new thread Betty! After my success with this in 2012 I'm well and truly in for 2013! I shall be debt busting with my extra payments and my aim is the beat my £710 2012 total. I will try for £1k at least. Not bad for little bits here and there that you don't even miss!

    Happy New Year everyone Xx

  • Hiya plmbl i'm sure you'll nail 1k this year.
My last car payment is the 28th Jan and I get paid the 18th so that'll be a big part of what has swallowed my money for the last 6 months gone so I'm setting my goals up to August to be £250 pm in a holiday savings account and £150 into a house move savings account. I have already set these up and these will count as my extra payments. I'm also having a Christmas savings account and will declare what I put in there too but have no set goal for an end amount.

Focus will change after August as that's when I plan to have had my holiday so will update with a new goal then.

Right that's me all planned out, lol.

  • Thanks for the shiny new thread! Hubs and I are committed to clearing everything this year - except the interest free loan to the Monster in law which should be gone middle of next year (much better than the originally predicted DFD of Feb 15!)

I hope to clear £1000 extra this year - Start a new job on 7th which will help! Will pay something off on friday and will make hubs do some too!

    Hi, can I join, please?

I think it will be extra payments off debt mostly, but including a bit of savings as I don't have anything for contingencies and really want some peace of mind this year.

Thanks Betty for starting the thread. Happy new year everyone :)
