Car indicator stopped working and as I ws passing, I reluctantly stopped in at my local halfords autocente
Staff member gave light a whack and it came back on, but he decided to just check the bulb. Showed me corroded fittings and recommended replacement. I agreed as it would save me time. He fitted new bulb and I waited for the bill. He came back a few minutes later and said there was no charge.
Now I know bulbs prob only cost a few pence and their marketing ploy to spread good publicity has obviously worked
, but still for me I thought it deserved a mention

Could you email the store manager, with the persons name/description to give praise?
Might just be what they need to stop them being "let go" in the post christmas slump.0 -
Bulbs do cost only a few pence-but not at Halfords!
I'm amazed they did this for nowt.
Was the staff member male and are you a good looking female?0 -
Last time that I went to Halfords, they insisted that my Ford car needed a replacement distributor and said that was causing the occasional changes in revs whilst driving. So after spending £350 ish with them fitting a new distributor I found the same problem was ocurring within a week of fitting.
When I took the car back to a Ford garage, they said it was a potientiometer problem on the throttle pedal and, changing that for about £40, it fixed the problem.
I did go back to Halfords and queried this but they just insisted that the distributor was malfunctioning and showed me some printouts "proving" that it was a bad part, presumably as in "Bad part - get off the sofa!"
Clearly I am not good looking enough and neither am I going back to Halfords for car maintenance....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
We've had similar issues as Spammy with company cars and Halfords.
Needless to say, I'll only let the main dealer touch them now!

Fair play to the chap, that's decent service.
I'd expect that at a local motor factors but not Halfords.

I've spoken to one for our new VW stuff we're taking on in March; Dagenham Motors have never made money from the sale of cars we've bought, and we've given them a lot of servicing work.
Our new stuff's coming from Arnold Clark in Inverness at about 30% off, plus free delivery (we're in NW London ), and will be going into one of the larger independent garages, that also serves as a Skoda dealership (the two businesses are legally separate, as the dealership is franchise, the garage isn't). DM have no fewer than about 3 of our cars in at any one time (most are serviced every 6 weeks), and it's been a struggle to find an independent that can actually cope with the amount of work a 200-car fleet brings!
