I have had this for months and months over a year really but when I have to use 1899 especially to mobiles its an absolute nightmare, theres no pointr even bothering using it coz the delay is redicules even if you can talk to each other but normally the convo has to be terminated because its just not possible to spreak and be heard or hear. Too much interference and terrible delay
Thanx

Only once in a blue moon do I have such a problem.

BTW, www.18185.co.uk is far cheaper for BT landline to UK mobile calls (6p/minute weekdays, 2p/minute weekends).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Cable or CPS on a BT landline?

https://www.discountdial.co.uk 0871 754 42 42. 6p a minute (6p connection from a VM cable line) but unlike 18185 you pay if your not connected. Clock starts ticking as soon as your hear announcement.

They are a sister company of 1899/18185 so line quality may not be any better.

I dont know what cps is all I know is that when I moved in years ago the phone was a bt line I did have a different number though then. When cable ntl came round when they first started up I swapped the line to cable but didnt keep my bt number they gave me a new ntl number so I think thats classed as an original bt line.

I do have another line but cable added that for when I used dial up internet I would imagine that line would be virgin media ntl cables
    Thanx

Right, you're on cable and have to access 1899 via their 08081708708 access number.

VM are progressively barring their customers' access to such cheaper call providers (see HERE) so I don't think you'll have access much longer anyway - so it's probably not worth complaining but, IMHO, it's a cable problem. Do you get noise problems when you dial via VM?
