Parking Eye ticket

Options
Hi, I sold a car on 29th September and had a parking ticket for the 29th October. I wrote and appealed to say that I had sold it in part exchange to a garage. I just heard back from them saying that because I haven't given them the name of the driver I am liable for the parking charge.
What happens if the driver never registers the car in their name, am I liable for everything they do? What if they run someone over and run from the scene? Am I liable for that too or it is just car park charges, I'm worried to death about what will happen next, I can't afford to pay every charge this new "keeper" of my old car does.
Any advice for this circumstance?
Best regards
Michelle

    Hi Michelle,

    for starters ignore parking eye.
When you sold the car I assume you notified DVLA of the change of keeper ? by the sounds of it the new keeper hasnt registered the car in their name.
I would write to DVLA just to confirm that they recieved your change of keeper slip. They sometimes play it on as well but we'll cross that bridge if it comes to it.
Until DVLA confirm the change of keeper details though you will still be sent tickets etcas technically your are still recorder as the registered keeper.
Keep any official tickets you get in the meantime and tell them you are no longer the registered keeper of the vehicle.

No point in getting stressed out though, just enjoy the new year festivities and dont forget to get in touch with DVLA

Worried to death?! Do you worry about phishing emails too? Of course you are not liable, it's a scam, a fake PCN. Surely you would NOT have paid a private parking fake PCN 'charge' even if you had been driving. Having come here to this parking forum, I take it you have a read a few threads here and seen it's not a fine at all, yes?

However, as you have appealed and said you did not own the car then, you may as well take Parking Eye one stage further to the POPLA independent appeal stage (just one letter needed). But you need a POPLA verification code from PE before you can appeal there.

Here's an explanation from pepipoo forums:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=46975

So you can ignore them, but you'll still get debt collector letters (for God's sake don't get scared, they are ONLY junk mail).

But I suggest POPLA because it costs the scammers money and will get this knocked on the head. So reply to PE (enclose proof of the sale if you can) and demand the POPLA verification code.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
