No, apparently Invisible Pat bought a house 8 years ago and lost money on it, so best not to buy a house now?0 -

You could also meet Jackie , who's getting divorced and is selling a terrace house she bought
Ah, invisible Jackie, the divorcee. Every good story needs a love interest.... :rotfl:0 -

How much would you spend on a mortgage without leaving yourselves in poverty?
Anything over 80 would be sticking your neck out?
Well you'd probably need a £20K deposit, so that brings your house price up to £100K ish.
Probably about right - is that not the average house price or something?
£99K according to this...

No. Only an observation.
If it doesn't fit your view of the world it must be a lie. How's this attitude going for you? About as well as paying interest on depreciating assets.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Fat finger syndrome??? You appear to have hit the wrong keys on your keyboard. Don't worry though - I've corrected your post above so that no readers get the wrong idea.0 -

I was agreeing with you! 2 Average salaries, £20K deposit, would allow you to comfortably buy an average house. All seems about right?
People pay interest on depreciating assets? Is this a shocker for you? 75% of car buyers finance cars. It happens.
I wouldnt consider a house to necessarily be a depreciating asset, and you would be in a very small minority if you do.0 -

I would have thought it was a fairly simple reflection on the fact that few people look for houses coming up to christmas.
Same as changing your car. Very few ever sold in the last couple of months of the year.
That seems like common sense to me?
Why dont you ask invisible Jackie, the divorcee, what she thinks?0 -

People paying interest on depreciating assets is an observation, not a delusion.0
