I think you're not far wrong. These things are all about consumer confidence and consumer confidence is LOW.

There is significant talk of price rises on the mainland and i think we'll - as previously - catch the tail end of that at some point and prices will creep upwards.

    :D

Well, my prediction is London's bubble will have popped long before there's any chance of that happening. I lived in Lewisham 10 years ago, and I was amazed at the prices rubbish little houses are going for when I was over last week. In the UK's most murderous borough.

And it's pretty much only London. Even Southern England is seeing dips in many areas.

I would say a lot of people would be 'prepared to pay' prices that are out there, but cant.

First hand experience of this myself. I would be considered 'below prime' due to past mistakes and silliness, but personal finances are now in excellent shape. Broker can find plenty of people willing to lend to me, but unfortunately none of them are prepared to lend to me in Northern Ireland.

I'd love to buy a house right now, irrespective of any possible price decreases.

If you have a decent deposit anything is possible.

25-30% and in the opinion of at least 3 full market brokers, it isn't.

What sort of salary multiple are you looking? I take it we're talking CCJ in the last 12months? Or payday lenders? Pretty much removes all lenders, but it's not because you live here.

Gee, could this be evidence that you're wrong?

Perhaps if you gave the poster a chance to say if they have recent CCJs, defaults or payday loan history we will find out.

If there's none of the above then clearly I'm wrong.

Have we slipped away from the news item which prompted today's activity on this thread?

"House prices fell again in August and September."

    Discuss.

Not sure if the detail around it but it could simply be that more cheaper houses were sold, that would bring down the average?

    Dont know, dont really care.

To be honest, if you're not selling, and you're not buying then i dont see that its totally relevant at all.

If you're a home owner then if you've not sold already then clearly you dont plan to. If you're a home buyer then no doubt you will get encouragement from it that prices havent bottomed out and will hold fire again.

Lets be honest, there are those who consider themselves "canny" who if house prices dropped to £2 in the morning, would be declaring the market hadnt bottomed out yet and they're overvalued and they'll not be buying until they drop to a pound! :rotfl:
