ticket for parking in private road

8 days ago i had a parking ticket from Northamptonshire parking management for parking without a valid permit on a road known as Notre Dame Mews in Northampton. I have a disabled badge and was on double yellow lines so thought I was safe! After reading the ticket for £120 reduced to £60 if paid in 14 days i looked around and saw a small notice in a 2ft 6" wall saying it was a private road and no parking without a permit, this was obscured by a car parked next to it and another was on a 6ft post but was also obscured by a van parked next to it. should I pay or appeal or ignore and has anyone else had a ticket from this company and what did they do?

Hello Rosie,
Read the stickies and then you will find the best course of action is to ignore them."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Northamptonshire parking management
not on AOS list under that name so can't get rk details. Good time to ignore, no contact from you and they don't know who you are.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

I do hope you haven't contacted them at all.
As peter_the_piper says, this bunch are not in the Approved Operator Scheme so they CANNOT, repeat CANNOT get your details from the DVLA. The amount being over £100 gives the game away as well that this is just a bunch of chancers. They cannot send any letters or do anything at all, if you don't contact them.
They are just scammers relying on idiots appealing or paying. So don't hand them your details by appealing, it would be as clever as replying to a phishing email!!
Happy New Year!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks all,
No I have not replied to them:D
Its good to know they can't get my details!
You have all made my year, so thanks again.
Ignoring them seems to be excellent advice:beer:0 -
By the way if they do contact you it means they got your RK illegally and against the dpa, so if you do hear from them come back here if you don't mind.When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Total damages suffered by the land-owner by the driver parking on a private road with poor signs, zero.
Total amount landowner can sue driver for in court - Zero
Ignore the 3rd party, there is something about private roads signs needing to be suitable and seeable from the public highway if the road doesn't have a barrier.0 -
I am so glad i came across this post! I was also on notre dame mews. I parked at the top of the road. And as i have a disabled badge i always look around me to make sure there arent any " no parking signs ". I made sure i took photos on my phone of areas all around my car once i had seen the ticket. NO SIGNS. The amount also was £120!! I was getting prepared to write an appeal letter and send a copy of the photos. I was a bit dubious about the ticket because i thought it would have something to do with the council. so when i checked the councils website and found it was not the same address as on the ticket and none of their fines were £120, i thought i would google them.
A HUGE THANKYOU to you all for your help!:T
How can they get away with this? There must be hundreds of people who have paid their tickets on that road! Is there anywhere i can complain about them? is it even worth it?
Sorry i sound a bit thick....what is RK and dpa?
Also, how are you all so clued up??!! THANKS AGAIN! i was really scared about appealing.

RK = Registered Keeper
DPA = Data Protection Act
We are all clued up as we have "been there done that" and we have all come out the other side smelling sweeter than roses and still had OUR hard earned cash in OUR pockets not theirs.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0
