primus are being naughty!

Hi all,

Been with primus for 18months now and looking forward to going elsewhere. Rang them to let them know and they told me I can't leave until June 2013.

The reason is that I moved house 6 months after I signed up and they restarted my contract.

I didn't know of this procedure. They then said that it is standard WITH ANY COMPANY to restart a contract. Is this true? Does this seem fair?

I've had no end of problems with them, the customer service is shocking!

Im waiting for a supervisor to call back.

To be fair, BT would have done the same!. They did to me, although they did tell me what they were doing. Are you sure it wasn't hidden somewhere in an email or letter you had from Primus about the move? (Emphasis on the hidden...)
  • nope nothing hidden in anything sent to me. They asked me about a change of address form that would have been sent to me to sign, but I told them it was changed over the phone, no paperwork was sent out.

Actually had a similar problem when we actually moved. When I informed them of my change in address, I asked if I would be charged for reconnection at the new address, they said over the phone that I wouldnt (on 3 seperate occasions), but then they charged me for it. The issue was eventually sorted, but it appears that what primus say and do are two different things.

It's relatively common to restart a contract upon requesting a housemove, although they certainly ought to have told you!. As Zax said, check the paperwork/email you received upon requesting the housemove.
Sorry, but the customer is not always right. Often, you're very very wrong.

A home move is usualyl free, but invariably restarts your minimum term.
This is to prevent you moving at their expense and then immediately switching supplier.
