Hi, I am fairly new to the ebay and I can list for 3,5,7 and 10 days but I can't figure out shorter listings. Is this possible and how?

There are 1 day listings but I think you need a certain feedback rating before you can use that option. I seem to remember it was a feedback of 10 before you are able to use it.

For a 1-day listing you must have a feedback score of 10, or if you have a PayPal account and accept PayPal as a payment method, a feedback score of 5.

thanks for your help i have sold 3 things now so im on my way! Do you use 1 day listings? Do you think they work well? It seems to me that people only bid near the end so why list for longer?0

Although people tend to bid at the last moment you do need to make your item visible for a while so that people can set up their snipes, or watch the item ready to place a bid.
One day auctions are best for tickets and things that need a quick sale if the 'use' date is approaching.

and to add to what soolin said....one day auctions are used for commodity goods such as RAM and other things that there are a lot of on at any one time. Most of my stuff is one day but I sold a DVD player and I put that on for 10 days primarily to end on the day I wanted it to.
In general I would use 7-10 day listings.0 -
You wouldn't believe how refreshing it is to come into this site and be able to ask a 'newbie' question and not get bitten by a bunch of pirahna ! lol lol
I posted a question in a forum about burning dvd's etc etc last night, I was told in no uncertain terms to read the FAQ's.
I replied "It's easier to ask the question than to trawl through endless pages of rules and instructions(which it is !), what's the point of a forum if you can't ask a question. If you can't be bothered to answer the question, then why bother replying at all ?".
I got another load of abuse from the board guide 'of all people !, who merely stated "It's easier to ban your account than to reply"
Charming !

Got to agree about 1 day listings being great for flooded markets. Another good one to use it on is a phone at the weekend ... worked several times for me, usually due to a bidding war0 -

I agree. I feel much more at ease asking questions on this forum than some other forums Ive been on. Some people can be downright nasty but I havent found this the case here on Moneysaving.
Ive seen the same question come up time and again from different people on all sorts of subjects but I certainly don't mind replying if I can help and I don't mention that its been asked before because how would you know if you're new to the site!0
