Samsung Galaxy Tablet versus Nexus Tablet

I am considering a new tablet. I already have an IPad and use that for family stuff. I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and love it - so as such i am considering the Samsung Galaxy tablet. I am also interested in the Nexus - it has to be android. I would be using it more for work stuff/ email/ internet access, not games.

Anyone offer any advice on pros and cons?

What kind of work stuff would you be doing on it ?

only ask as depending on your usage a laptop/netbook might be more useful.

You can do word/excel docs on either using one of the free applications you can get from the play store or you use google docs.
  • i'd be using it for web access, occasional presentations - so powerpoint would be useful. i have a laptop as well. basically all the things i use my smart phone for (minus calls) buut on a bigger screen - apps for trtain times, synced emails, facebook, social media generally..

Check the specs. Isn't the Galaxy a good bit older? That'll mean a slower processor and graphics (Nexus is good here) and maybe a lower res screen, less memory, and an older version of Android (4.2 on the Nexus).

I have both. They both do the job perfectly, however I love the nexus more. It just seems faster and easier to use.

The Nexus has a faster processor and slightly higher resolution screen, but fixed memory. The Galaxy has a memory card slot, so you can add storage. You just missed out on the Samsung tablet cashback promotion which ended on 31st December unfortunately.

Which of these would be better for a child? She tends to play games on websites that require flash.

DH was told in Currys that the Galaxy Note was best for word type programmes as it has Polaris office.

Google thingamabobs tend to work well together, so if you go for Android you should be able to use the service formerly known as Google Docs for word processing.
