Wacom Bamboo Driver Help

Neverminder

For Christmas I received a Wacom Bamboo Pen graphics tablet, and since then i have trying to get the drivers properly working. When trying to access the preferences I get the same error every time

"There is a problem with your tablet driver.
Please reboot your system. If the problem persists
reinstall or update the driver."

I have now tried resetting the computer, reinstalling the drivers from both the Disk that came with the tablet and from the website. After trying both of these options multiple times, I called the Wacom help but they gave me the these instructions.

-Unplug the tablet from the computer.
-Uninstall the driver from the PROGRAMS AND FEATURES (respectively ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS) section of the Control Panel
-Reboot your system
-Remove any remaining Wacom entries from device manager Wacom Internal
-Search and remove the following files from your system:
tablet.dat
pen_tablet.dat
wintat*.*
If you do not find these files please continue and restart your computer.
-Reboot your system
Your tablet driver has now completely been removed from the system.
To install the tablet again, plug in the tablet again and install the latest driver for your tablet from...
(Can't post links but the link is to the most resent released driver)

After following what they asked to do 3 times using both the drier they linked and the driver released before this as the person as at wacom recommended, though i have tried to contact their help desk again but they seem to have closed line until after the new year.
I run a windows 7 64bit computer with windows installed on a SSD if any of this makes a difference.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
