  • The irony is that when I first started my dmp in 2008, Barclaycard got really difficult and said they didn't want to wait a long time to get their money back - yet they keep charging interest so it is taking me longer to pay them back! B/C would be cleared by now if it wasn't for the interest.

  • had our DMP running 12mths now and barclaycard froze interest from start and it still 0%... we owe them the most as we both had one and both had an Egg card too so 4 barclaycards in effect now.. about £18k in total..
virgin also froze interest on both our cards from start right up until Nov when they sold the accounts on...
  • BC have charged me £2000.00 in interest over my three year DMP. A third of my remaining debt with them is now the interest. I have asked them to stop, they are also the firm that have not accepted a F&F offer to them based on a pro-rata offer that three other creditors have accepted. Seems they do what they like to different people, so you might get lucky.

Hi all, first post for me!
When I went into my DMP, BarclayCard were really good with me, and stopped charging me interest. They were one of the best ones to be honest!

Barclaycard.......initially stopped interest then it went to 6.9 then 12.9, the reason given that I was paying over 1 per cent of the balance. The threat given, on more than one occasion, that they may move it to 29.9!

    Evil they are.

I started my DMP last July. I'm using Payplan. Barclaycard (who took over my Egg card) stopped interest without a whimper...

Bizzarely (after reading the other posts) Egg had originally dropped my interest to 0% but when it was taken over by Barclaycard they put the interest up to 10.9% after a while.

I have been thinking about asking them to reduce it but as others have also mentioned, I was afraid they might bump it up even higher!

If it was at an agreed (but I believe, reviewable) 0% when they bought Egg out, do you think I should mention this or not rock the boat?

Barclaycard stopped my interest initially, but then started to add interest a few years into my DMP. I think 'Eyeopner2' has hit the nail on the head, once you up your payments to them they start to add interest. It seems thats what happened to me. Out of all my ex-creditors I hate B'card the most followed very closely by HSBC and in 3rd place Halifax
