My photo on my driving licence expires at the end of March. I know they are supposed to send a reminder which I assume will arrive soon.

However, I want to make sure I get the licence in good time for going on holiday so the question is, if I apply not does the next ten year expire from the application date or do they add ten years on to the expiry date of my current licence (as they do with a passport)?

Thanks in advance

You get the renewal reminder in good time (2 months in advance) and can renew as soon as you get it.

So you will have plenty time to sort it, and maybe if you "lose" a month it won't be too much over 10 years.

The ten years starts from the date they print your new licence. I found this out then I applied to renew mine a month before the expiry.
