    Hello,

Bit of an update and more advice required if possible.

After a lot of messing around from Evans Halshaw last week they informed my OH to fault codes were coming up. The first thing they did was order a new Engine Control Unit which was fitted on Friday. Apparently this did not fix the issue, and they ordered another part, something to do with ABS (I did warn you I was clueless with cars!).

Expected phone call today to collect car. Instead at 9.30 he received a call asking if he steams his engine as there was water in the spark plug area. He explained he didn't, and that this had happened twice before and he wanted it looking into. They said they couldn't find a cause of this and didn't seem interested in looking further.

OH planned to give the warranty line a ring tomorrow once he had a copy of the service job cards from the dealership. They gave him a courtesy call this afternoon (he has been in touch with them a few times over the past few days anyway) and he told them about the water and wanting an investigation. They told him if he wanted this to happen he would have to pay.

    Is this correct?

It's only a matter of time before the spark plugs go again and this is not getting the problem sorted.

Going to get in touch with consumer advice and see where we stand.
Are they going to charge him for the ecu? Have they changed the coil pack?

    No not charged for ecu.

He isn't sure if they have changed the coil pack (waiting on service cards from dealer) but this has been changed when the spark plugs were changed previously.

(I have no idea what any of these things are :o)

The coil pack has seals built into it to stop water entering the plug chambers, it is possible that the garage didn't change the coil pack just the plugs. I'd be temted to change the coil pack myself to see if it cures the problem its only a five minute job.

any water wouldn't stay there long, engines get hot, it would evaporate, can't see it requiring new plugs each time either.

there's only a limited number of places water can come from.

    how is it cleaned
