    utter b****x

A Disclosure Scotland Check (a Basic CRB) will disclose all unspent Convictions (not cautions).

A Standard CRB will disclose all spent and unspent convictions plus cautions, warnings & reprimands.

An Enhanced CRB will disclose all spent and unspent convictions plus cautions, warnings & reprimands PLUS will check the "barred" lists plus in rare situations relevant information held by the Police but where there was no conviction.

The type of check an employer does will depend on the nature of the job although many employers do Standard or Enhanced CRBs where there is no legal authority to do them.

Byelaw offences are not Criminal Offences and will not show up on any CRB type check

PS.... stigy just incase i fancy a career change wots the wages like @SWT

Byelaws are criminal offences, they're just non recordable on PNC. This basically means that there's no paper trail once convicted, so you're at least right about one thing in that such a conviction won't show up on a CRB. That's not say you shouldn't disclose, if asked if you've ever been convicted of a criminal offence, because you'd be lying if you said you hadn't. Regulation of Railways Act 1889 offences are recordable and do show up on a CRB check. That appears to be the only thing you're right about though, most of the other stuff is rubbish and shouldn't relied up on. For example, a first offence wouldn't necessarily only be £150 plus costs and (although it sometimes is), although no prison or a £5,000 fine, depending on your means, the fine could be £1,000 plus costs and compensation etc. Typically half the average weekly wage for a Byelaw, or the equivalent of the average weekly wage for a Regulation of Railways Act 1889 offence.

As for the job, why don't you email them? I'm sure they're game for a laugh....
  • Oh, and by the way - no ticket = uninsured.

That train comes off the rails, your arms come off = tough titty.

    Now, that WOULD be funny.

so no crb for byelaw no £5000 fine and no jail so that post i replied to was scaremongering. thank you for confirming that

I've also found having a ticket has this amazing ability to be able to get a paid-for taxi home if your connecting train is late or the lift is out of use.
just passing through.... Nothing to see....
