as i said before i dont advocating fare dodging infact as ive told many a user on this and other forums i always have a valid ticket for travel. wot with the use of split ticketing ;) picking up heavily discounted advance tickets from various online retailers ;) and the compo voucher claims i submit for late trains ;) unused tickets ;) or for complaints against bad attitude staff ;) most of the time means i travel for free without having to resort to fare dodging :D

    well most of the time

stigy and his swt buds muck up again

Not sure I've ever confirmed I work for SWT but I have seen that article nonetheless....interesting actually, shows everybody is human I guess ;)

You say "muck up again" is there more where that came from?

I took that as confirmation that you were assuming I had a connection with SWT....seems like a reasonable observation on my part.

And no, by the way. I still don't recall my saying I work for SWT.

Maybe we should have check points on roads as well since there are so many people driving around without any insurance, or no valid VED disc for their vehicles.

Really you know since many of us do pay for insurance and VED we must be sure that others are checked 100% to make sure everyone does pay.....

Of course we could move to the system used in some other EU countries. Dispense with the costly ticket gates (which are left open when there are no staff around (typically 10% of tickets won't operate gates so cannot be left unattended) and have roaming ticket checks with a really stiff penalty fine for anyone who has no ticket or valid authority to travel. Seems to get high levels of compliance where the regime is applied.

In France you validate your ticket when starting the journey, and so a ticket checker can see you have a valid ticket, and not be using the same one more than once.

Take this as you will, but I don't see that it matters to be honest. I do work for a TOC, I just don't want to confirm which one so as to regain some anonymity...I actually may have let slip before who I work(ed) for, I can't remember entirely, I just think that the Internet should be a place whereby you can be whoever you want.

There are check points on the roads (ANPR Cameras, static and police car mounted).

OK - that's fair enough; it just helps set the perspective on your viewpoint.
  • I'd thought of that prior to my comment Einstein, however, it's their problem not mine.
They are going to have to devise an alternative solution to checking everybody or else.

.....or else they prosecute you under the railway byelaws where non-possession of a ticket when travelling from a station with facilities to sell such is an absolute offence punishable by up to a £5k fine and/or jail time. The subsequent criminal record shows on CRB checks too! - that will do wonders for your future career prospects.....

eh no he will get either a penalty fare or be asked to buy a undiscounted ticket
punishable by up to a £5k fine and/or jail time.

hes not al capone. first offence wud be no more than £150 + costs or pass some shekles to toc and settle out of court £75-100 MAX greedy toc's
The subsequent criminal record shows on CRB checks too! - that will do wonders for your future career prospects.....

    utter b****x

A Disclosure Scotland Check (a Basic CRB) will disclose all unspent Convictions (not cautions).

A Standard CRB will disclose all spent and unspent convictions plus cautions, warnings & reprimands.

An Enhanced CRB will disclose all spent and unspent convictions plus cautions, warnings & reprimands PLUS will check the "barred" lists plus in rare situations relevant information held by the Police but where there was no conviction.

The type of check an employer does will depend on the nature of the job although many employers do Standard or Enhanced CRBs where there is no legal authority to do them.

Byelaw offences are not Criminal Offences and will not show up on any CRB type check

PS.... stigy just incase i fancy a career change wots the wages like @SWT
