Tax Credit - Over payment

We received a letter regarding our tax credit renewal earlier in the year, I knew we wouldn't receive tax credit for 2012/13 year but it also had an over payment of around £230, I've been waiting for a letter regarding paying this back but as nothing has turned up should I be contacting them to arrange, have no issues with paying the money back but with everything keep forgetting about it. Thanks

Which year's the overpayment from? If it's this tax year, they won't ask for it till after the renewal as the award isn't finalised till then. If it's from last year, does it say on the finalised award that they'll be asking for it back? If so you should have got a letter with a payment slip about a month after the finalised award notice.0

I haven't got the renewal form in front of me but it was for year April 11 to March 12 and Ihaven't received a letter with the slip attached to it, I would have to go and look for the form but we received it around May-June 2012 and it mentioned the amount for overpayment on the renewal form, should I be contacting them.0

You need to check the renewal. If it says they'll be asking for for direct payment then they should have sent you a letter with a payment slip, may be best to contact them in case this has got lost in the post.
But if it says they'll take it off future awards then they probably won't ask for it till next year, once they've confirmed this year's award is zero.0
