House Prices are starting to fall!

According to moneyextra !

"House prices stalled in March - but first time buyers continued to come under pressure, says Moneyextra. Average property values fell in March to their lowest level since October last year. At £220,303, the average price is up just 4.8% on year-ago levels and is actually down 1.2% on February's £222,9231"

Anyone interested in Spanish property check out
https://www.MoneyWeek.com and look for the article "Has Spain property bubble just burst?"

A pretty good indication of what is starting to happen in the UK.

There are loads of rise and fall threads, but the does seem to be a lot more falling ones than there was a couple of years ago.

Don't see or RISE LINK as a rise link myself. People increased their mortgages to pay off their credit cards. So 1-1 IMHO

Yeah - UK & US are different, UK & Spain are different, UK & Ireland are different. The UK is still rising, while the rest are dropping, I wonder how long they will remain different.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

It seems that estate agents and mortgage lenders etc tend to be involved in the "rising house prices" news statements.
Its obvious that they are trying to keep the market afloat with blatant BS.
  • Just as everyone learned about supply and demand in GSCE economics I'm sure we're all aware of the boom and bust scenario. We have had an undeniably massive boom in the UK economy of which house price rises have played a huge part.
Naturally and unavoidably a downturn will follow, both in housing and in the wider economy. This is how things have always been and will continue to be.
Of course, no economy or housing situation is exactly like the UK. But equally we do not exist in isolation. We rely on countries like US and Spain for imports/exports and even for holiday homes. Ask yourself, where do the banks that lend 7x mortgages get the money to do so? If other countries suffer, we will suffer.
We may live on an island but having an island mentality and ignoring the dynamics of the global economy just leads to ignorance.
