Moving/completion day

I was wondering about the actual move day – how it works. We’ve been told that we need to vacate our house and have the keys with the estate agent by 1pm, but that's all we've been told.
When should we be able to pick up the keys from the estate agent for the new house (different area)? Do we go straight over to the new house and wait outside until we get ‘the call’ or will we be given a time beforehand to go and get them…
Sorry if this sounds daft, I just want to get it clear in my mind!

usually you pick up the keys for the new house from the estate agent you bought the house from, unless the estate agent tells you otherwise. Probably best to ring EA to make sure. The timing depends on when your solicitor has transferred the money to the seller's solicitor's account! Some solicitors go to Lunch at 1pm - 2pm, so if completion doesn't happen before 1pm, then it's usually after 2pm!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
What's generally the situation with regards to notifying utility companies? Obviously you take meter readings on the way out and the new occupier takes a reading on the way in, but who pays for the bit in between?
When you phone up to "move out", do they ask for and then send you a final bill to your new address?0
