We have a brand new Windows 8 laptop, bought yesterday. We haven't had any experience with Windows 8 (or 7) before, but I expect my husband will get used to it, if we can overcome the main problem.
He really wants to install a game (Heroes of Might and Magic III) and we have 2 game installation discs bought at different times and successfully installed on XP and Vista laptops. Neither will install on the new laptop. There isn't even an error message - just the popup window that asks if you want to let the program make changes, then absolutely nothing else happens. We tried installing in safe mode (after working out how to get there - what was wrong with the old way? Why make something simple so complicated?) - exactly the same happened. We tried 'troubleshoot compatibility' from the right-click menu on the setup file - eventually it decided 'program incompatible'.
I'd even buy the game a third time if I could to make it work, but I don't think a version designed for Windows 8 exists. Can anyone help?

PPI on Natwest loan, Barclayloan, MBNA credit card, and Mortgagecare all repaid just for asking in 2012/2013!
Barclaycard - PPI refund refused 26/01/13, ombudsman upheld 12 May 2014, Barclays resisted until March 2015 - FOS say Barclays are calculating an offer, they have 8 weeks.
