No claims bonus-moving abroad

Hello :)

I will shortly be moving to Switzerland for 2 years (possibly 3). I have 9 years no claims bonus on my car insurance, currently held through admiral. I don't intend to drive while living abroad and will be selling my UK vehicle. I am wondering if there is a way I can preserve my NCB for this period? Is there some kind of proof/certificate I can ask admiral to provide when my policy lapses?

Many thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Most insurance companies will take old ncd up to 24 months from when last in use. Save the letter you get confirming your ncd after you cancel your policy prior to departure.

If you don't use it in time see if your last insurer will honour it, search for any company taking older ncd or see if a local broker ( not Swinton) can help at the time.
  • Thank you Quentin, that is really helpful.
