clutch problems
hi there I own a vauxhall combo 1.7 di 2002.While I was driving the other day I changed into second gear and the engine lost all power and stalled, with a warning light coming on.
I restarted the engine but as I drove away the same happened again.
Im thinking its a clutch problem and was wondering if there was a way to test it?
the van is only worth a grand at maximum so dont really want to spend hundreds on a new clutch
thanks again

The clutch wont cause the engine to cut out unless your stalling it.
Warning light came on you need a code reader to see what the fault is.
2002 diesel though. So cheap handheld readers probably wont work. You need to join the Vauxhall forums to see what they use. Or if there is a way to read the code without one.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It will if the cable snaps when shifting gear from a stand potentially. However, in this scenario it wouldn't, I agree, as you're on the move too quickly. Sounds more like an engine issue.forgotmyname wrote: »The clutch wont cause the engine to cut out unless your stalling it.

Dave, what makes you think it's the clutch? You'd know it was the clutch as the pedal would stick to the floor if the cable snapped, make a horrible noise if the clutch itself had broken up or slip if it was worn out. Is the fault still occurring?0 -
Corsa combo have an hydraulic clutch not a cable clutch. Something causing the engine to go into limp home mode taking away all the power and hence your sudden stall. Best thing to do. Is to go over to the corsa c owners club sign up on there and go find how to do the peddle test to find which fault code is showing. I would show a link but on my phone.0

Really? Of that era? Thought they were cable. Even so, if the master/slave cylinder pops it'll have the same impact as the cable snapping. Irrelevant in this case I know.Mankysteve wrote: »Corsa combo have an hydraulic clutch not a cable clutch.
