Whats The Best Thing To Do If You Over Commit?

Options
I've stupidly over commited myself and wondering what the best thing is to do? I took out Sky a couple of months back as I couldn't afford a freeview box (I know there only £20 or so:o ) and the same with a mobile phone, I couldn't afford one so stupidly took out a contract at £30 a month minimum, so thats £50 a month I can not afford and am in contract and theres no way either Sky or Orange will let me out of the contracts, Whats the best thing to do? On Orange for example should I just get a Pay as you go sim and use it and pay of the contract in parts like a £10 a month or something,

Any advice appreciated?

Although they wont let you out of the contracts, they may be able to reduce your packages to the bare minimum, to reduce costs. I would give both of them a ring, tell them you can't afford it, and ask them what they can do.

If you don't have any luck, if you pop up your soa, we can have a look if there are any savings to be made elsewhere that might help.

Good luck with sorting it out.

I've already posted my SOA and it was pointless as there is nothing to be saved, I'm on the lowest package on Sky as for Orange i've tried them, they won't let me, and anyway there lowest is only £25, I don't know what I was thinking with Orange, I mean £10 does me 3 months on pay as you go. The only good thing with Orange is I get my broadband free which would be £15 a month by itself so £15 for a phone isn't bad only I can't afford it :(

Right, if there is no way to reduce your outgoings at the moment, is there any way to increase your income?

If you need to find an extra £50 per month, do you have anything you can eBay/carboot etc? What about a second job (you would only need to do one evening a week to get the £50 extra a month).

Or can you do overtime to bring in a bit extra?

Aw the ebay thing was done along time ago, If fact the only things I have worth while selling are are the Sky box and Mobile which would be a pointless exercise, As for another job I would need one but I'm actually off work at the min on paternity leave so looking another job is out the window for a while until the new babies sorted.

Its sounds like i'm being akward but i'm not. I'm really stuck which is why I posted, I've tried evreything I can think of, it was same with the SOA, I had tried everything already advised before posting

I'm guessing the paternity leave is a couple of weeks or so, is that right? I don't blame you for not wanting to start looking for another job so soon after the birth (congratulations by the way). But after that, could you maybe do a few hours in a pub/shop/take-away, that kind of thing? (I worked behind the counter in a chinese take-away once - best job I ever had, £20 quid for a few hours and free food, yum!)
