Travel Insurance - Group or Family?

We are going on holiday with another family next year. It has been booked as one booking for all of us.
With this in mind do we need to take out travel insurance to cover a group or can each family buy their own travel insurance?

Personally I would take out my own family insurance. As reason to cancel or mishap would be likely to affect only one family. Advise them to get their own family insurance too if you decide on this.

Also you need your insurance to start from now.

It's worth looking at the price of annual insurance as sometimes this is nearly as cheap as a one holiday policy.

Family insurance invariably covers one family name only (exceptions include by marriage) but a group policy may be better value. Do the math, then decide).
  • Thanks, I have a lot of policies that need renewing beginning of January and I am considering a current account with benefits.
Just weighing up totals to see if its worth my time.
So if I'm just insuring my family then I may take this option (especially as we often have small trips away during year)
    Thank you.

If you're considering the travel insurance which comes with a current account, double check its exclusions. I have heard reports of them not being as comprehensive as standalone policies.
