Council car park machine took money but didn't issue ticket?

There was no one about with it being a Sunday but I put the reg number in, added the money and clicked button for the ticket. It made the noises and went through the motions but didn't spit out a ticket. I had to use another machine and buy a new ticket. Is there anyway of recouping the money, it really winds me up. Will they be able to tell that I paid in the money and got no ticket? Also who do I complain to? Thanks

Try the council would be a good start.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Should have called the phone number on the ticket machine (assuming there was one) to talk to the parking office, and reported it. I did this once in similar curcumstances. When I got a PCN for not having the right P&D ticket, I appealed, they checked their call log, and thus cancelled the ticket.
Always best to contact someone as soon as possible (if possible). Otherwise, you're into the standard appeals process.0 -
By putting the Reg Number in, the council would be aware of your purchase, so a second one would be pointless. However, assuming you entered the same reg, they could confirm the simultaneous purchase, and refund on that basis.0

That all depends on how the system works ( or doesnt work)
I know of one council car park where the sole purpose of the enter reg number machine is to prevent ticket transfers, all it does is print the number on the pay and display ticket.
No cameras, no ANPR just the number printed on the ticket. From the Plain Language Commission:
