Witholding My Number? Bt/primus Or Cps

I thought that BT would withold my number however some friends have seen my number on their caller display. I think as BT only have my line rental, Primus may have to withold my number, but wait if my call goes through a 18185 for example who then witholds my number is it 18185?

1899 (and 18185, 18866) don't actually withhold your number when you send a call out via them - it's just that, most of the time, the calls trombone out of the country and back in again and BT's systems (which handle most people's incoming calls) don't pass the CLI of international calls.

I've found that, using 1899 etc. my full number, in international format, is sometimes displayed - but that's normally in the evening or at weekends. Presumably, these firms route calls differently at those times.

You're right, though, for Primus free evening and weekend calls, permanent (as opposed to a 141 prefix) call barring needs to be implemented by your CPS.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
