Google seem to own half the world now, and they are getting their fingers into more and more pies
Google/android Operating system, for mobiles, for laptops, for tablets, gmail, google picture sharing, music sharing, Google Drive (keeping you files on the cloud), Google Play applications
Google seem to go out of their way to be totally non-compliant (if they adopt a close cross they will put it bottom/left on purpose), and with this non-compliance comes a gazzilion user questions (I have 4738294729 per day) - and although they set up user forums, they are not managed - just left the users to 'figure it out'
as a result, of the 432947292 questions I have asked so far - I have had zero/zip/nadda replies - so given up posting to google forums

Having just become a new owner of a Nexus 7 and being completely unaware about most of Google related and android related matters, I'd welcome this tbh.
I have posted a couple of questions on the techie board which were answered quickly but I think given the growing numbers of android users, there could be a use for such a board here.
Some of the other android forums I've visited seem populated by quite intense and knowledgeable users and a lot of it goes over my head tbh.Herman - MP for all!0 -

The problem is, you'd need to do an apple one, a windows one, an alt one for other OS etc. They'd not get used much, and would spread things out so the help might be diluted as some people just may not go between them.
Also people seem unable to actually use things like search functions, and thus missed most answered questions. There would be no more of a benefit from a non-google-run forum section on here, as there is over there. Frankly almost everything can be found by googling, binging, whatevering it in the first instance. Some people are lazy, daft, and just can't cope with the basic of trying to find info before trying to get someone else here to find it for them. Tip, type it as a question into google, that helps too!
I have yet to come across an issue that doesn't have a google or other search engine result that will solve the problem/query. People trust here, and sometimes that's all they want, what they see is a trusted answer. Go figure. (yes i know, i ask here too)
So again, first instance JFGI. or it ends up with LMGTFY...0 -
Quite often people know what is the answer to your question, but Google sometimes requires a more precise question than the inquirer is able to frame, to get a decent set of answers.0

If its a Google forum, as an example, would a new Samsung Galaxy 3 owner know to go to the Google forum because it runs Android, particularly when Android has been over laid by the Touchwiz interface?
Would a Sky email user know to use the Google forum as it's just rebranded Gmail?
I think particularly for people who don't understand the technology that well, it could either cause more confusion or not be used as you intend0 -

I say bring it - you've just mentioned 2 other $multi-billion industries that are worth a forum each - all would be flooded with posts
Whilstever someone can't find a printer driver they aint gonna post it on a forum called "techy stuff"
I can't imagine how many got questions about new windows 8 touch screenWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0
